When I started consistently winning 6-figure government contracts it all came down to these 6 things:

Before winning 6-figure contracts, I was:

❌ Focusing on multiple agencies at once
❌ Bidding on opportunities outside my primary NAIC Code
❌ Generalizing what I offer and trying to appeal to all agencies at once
❌ Wasting hours on http://sam.gov/ and other government sites without a clear strategy
❌ No structured bid process beyond finding opportunities and writing proposals
❌ Missing numerous submission deadlines 😢

When I realized I needed a strategic checklist, everything changed. I started operating with intention, making focused decisions, and staying committed to the plan without getting sidetracked.

Step 1: Find a contract that’s a good fit for your business.
You will need to know your capacity to perform. The resources you have available like money, people, and equipment if needed.

Step 2: Understand Solicitations
You will need to understand the solicitation, be able to break down the requirements, understand the scope of work, how to fill out the paperwork, and which documents you need to submit with your proposal.

Step 3: Price Competitively
You have to know your cost to perform the work including overhead, and mark up for profit. You also need to know how to source numbers if you’re using subcontractors and suppliers.

Step 4: Write a Winning Proposal
Be able to take the requirements outlined in the solicitation, write the proposal and submit the entire, complete, package.
