12 Powerful Lead Generation Strategies

Truth. You’re making it way too difficult to find new leads that you can convert into customers and contracts. Watch this video as I share with you two different ways that you can start pulling in more customers that turn into actual contracts. I’m also going to share with you my favorite method, so stick around.

You don’t like prospecting for new leads that turn into customers because you’re an introvert. I get it but check this out. By the end of this video, you’re going to have not one, not two, and not even three, you’re going to have a list of ways that you can start bringing in the leads in your business. And guess what? Even while you’re delivering on your current projects or you feel like you’re stretched for time, oh yeah. These you can start implementing like today.

In this video, I’m sharing two ways you can start generating leads today PLUS the method I use.

These things I’m sharing with you, just so you know, these are the things that I share with my private clients and they are getting amazing results in implementing on these things and I don’t suggest doing them all, just pick your top three. Are you ready? Let’s go.

Let’s dive into the two ways that you can generate leads into your business that ultimately converts into customers and contracts.

The first thing you can do is prospecting

Now prospecting is an active role that you’ll play in generating leads. Now, I know a lot of you guys, you’re either:

  • Busy on projects
  • In the back office doing the paperwork
  • Just don’t have time or you just
  • Don’t like going out meeting people

Prospecting for new leads just not your jam. I get it, maybe you’re an introvert. Prospecting is a great way to generate leads for your business, and it fast tracks the results as well, going from a lead and converting them into a customer and a contract.

I get it. Prospecting is not everybody’s jam, so no problem. Just know it’s on the table, it’s there for you and it’s definitely something you can start implementing even if you do it once a month, as long as you implement some type of follow up.

The second way that you can get leads that convert into customers and contracts is with marketing activities.

I know for a lot of you guys, many contractors out there, you believe because your work happens out in the field, you go to a location, you believe that you can’t do the same as far as generating leads online.

Well, let me tell you, yes you can. You can generate leads doing some online activities even while you’re delivering on projects, even if you’re an introvert and you don’t really like talking to people about your business.

I have a list of ways that you can start implementing marketing activities in your business to start ramping up those leads coming in consistently that ultimately turns into customers and contracts.

Here are the things you could be doing online to generate leads

Craigslist: You can definitely pop an ad on Craigslist to start generating leads in your local area.

Another thing available and that people use is Angie’s List. You can put your ad on there or have a listing, get registered with them, okay. And there are probably others, you just have to look at what’s available in your local area.

Social media: A lot of people we know use social media to be social, not necessarily for business. But let me tell you, if you’re not using social media for your business, you’re missing out on a lot of leads that can convert into customers and contracts.

Facebook groups: Are a great place to hang out and find opportunities, especially if you’re looking for some work to sub or a lot of times it’s subcontracting work, but hey, if it makes dollars it makes sense. So definitely find Facebook groups for your local area to join.

Facebook profile: You can post who you are, what you do, and in your description, not only on Facebook, but Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, all these different places, you could have your description saying what you do. Then every time somebody goes to your profile they can see what you do.

Definitely make sure you make that adjustment if you’re using those platforms for business. And if you’re not, you could in most cases start a new profile to do that if your personal one is not up to par. So consider Facebook groups, Facebook profile, LinkedIn and YouTube.

LinkedIn: You could even target your larger companies, your GCs, general contractors, prime contractors just depending on what product or service that you offer to the government, even the private sector. You can go on LinkedIn, find companies that you can subcontract some work from, and let me tell you on LinkedIn, you’re getting that actual person, not their assistant. So talking about cutting that prospecting time in half, oh yeah.

Another thing you could do with the social media platforms and not just going into the groups and things like that looking for opportunities, you could also post.

  • About your work
  • What you’re doing, you could post
  • Before and after pictures

You could actually automate your post so that you don’t have to do it real-time. How cool is this? While you’re out delivering on a project, you’re advertising and you’re not doing it yourself. It’s automated. My favorite automation tool that I use for social media is SmarterQueue

Once you’re meeting people to stay in touch, you can start a newsletter. If you don’t have a newsletter, you can start a newsletter. It doesn’t take a lot of time. You could share some industry information, projects you worked on, and before and after pictures. You could offer coupons in your newsletter if they decide to work with you. You could promote specials if you’re having a season special or a holiday special.

It’s getting ready to be winter and you’re an HVAC company, maybe you’re going to do a special for… I don’t know, a heating tune-up or something, You could use a newsletter and send it out. You could send it out once a week, biweekly, or once a month. Whatever makes sense for your industry. It’s a way to stay in touch so that when they do need your services, they have your information handy.

I use ConvertKit to send out my newsletter. Again, You can automate sending your newsletter. Once you put the information into ConvertKit for your newsletter, you can schedule it to go out in the future if you don’t want it to go out that day.

You can be proactive and these are some things you can also have your assistant or you can get someone virtually, we call them a VA or virtual assistant.

Website: I know a lot of times people like to get out there and get to work, and there’s nothing wrong with that. They want to generate some revenue. But a website is another way to attract people and you can always send them to your website, and then there they can earn all about you:

  • Who you are
  • What you do
  • What certifications you have
  • What type of projects you work on

Your potential customers can see those before and after pictures, and of course, there’ll be the link on the page where they can contact you, to get your services or product.

You could also have a coupon that they download or a code on the website for your first-time visitors. To get them on to your newsletter, that you’re going to send out either once a week, biweekly, once a month, you could have a button for that as well.

You’re automating an awful lot of things here to generate leads that turn into customers and contracts. Because if they’re not interested, they’re not going to partake. How cool?!

These are all good leads. Another thing you can do that a lot of people are slipping on postal mail. Mailers still work. Sending people postcards in the mail, it still works. When I get postcards in my mail or people leave their business cards or a flyer at the door, I keep them. I keep their information so that when I do need them I can reach out. Mailers are good. Door hanger, same thing.

You can do what I’m doing right here on YouTube. You can educate people about your products and services right here on your YouTube channel. You can always send them the link. You can put the link in your newsletter. You could put the link on your social media sites.

You can take one piece of content and repurpose it for a lot of different activities that I just shared with you where it saves you time and money, whether you’re doing it yourself or you’re having someone else do it.

I suggest if you’re out in the field and you have projects, cash flow coming int, to invest in a virtual assistant. They can get this done for you really quick, faster than you would.

The goal is to get people into a conversation where you can share how you offer your products and services:

  • How you can help them
  • What the benefit is for them

All the marketing activities I shared with you would allow you to do that, to have that conversation without having to leave the comfort of your home. It’s especially beneficial when you’re on projects and you don’t have a lot of time.

You can have these activities working for you simultaneously while you’re working on projects so that you’re always building and generating new leads.

Now you have the activities that you can start implementing today to start generating more leads in your business and with automation.

I challenge you to share this post with three of your biz besties, three of your colleagues that you know could use some marketing activities in place to start generating more leads in their business. You can share it on your social media sites, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or wherever you hang out online.
