Being proactive is a must if you plan to be a supplier of products to the government. Oftentimes I see suppliers waiting until they have a request for a quote or bid in hand to start thinking about how they will pay for the product. That’s not what I suggest.
Unlike services, products must be purchased and delivered before getting paid in most cases. If you don’t have the resources to purchase the products upfront, you’re going to need a plan for funding to purchase the products BEFORE you’re awarded the contract.
